Según Google, cuando queramos iniciar sesión en una web o app, solo tendremos que desbloquear nuestro celular, sin que tengamos que usar una contraseña durante el proceso.
Así lo indica la propia empresa en un comunicado al respecto:
“Para iniciar sesión en una web desde la computadora, solo necesitaremos tener el teléfono a mano, ya que se nos pedirá que lo desbloqueemos para poder acceder. Después de hacerlo, ya no volveremos a necesitar el teléfono y podremos iniciar sesión simplemente desbloqueando la computadora”.
Nuestros teléfonos celulares almacenarán una credencial FIDO, una clave de acceso que servirá para desbloquear el inicio de sesión. Según Google, esta clave se basa en un modelo de criptografía de clave pública, la cual solo es accesible en el momento en el que el usuario desbloquea su teléfono.
FIDO está diseñado para proteger la seguridad de los usuarios, como sus claves privadas y datos biométricos. Basta con deslizar una huella digital o ingresar un PIN una sola vez para que los inicios de sesión no tengan que depender de una contraseña.
No hay una fecha específica para que este proyecto tenga salida, pero Google afirma que podría ser entre 2022 y 2023.
El origen de esta conmemoración anual se debe al investigador en seguridad Mark Burnett, quien en su libro Perfect Passwords abordó las diferentes estrategias para crear una contraseña segura.
Además propuso establecer un día que sirviera de recordatorio tanto a usuarios como a empresas de todo el mundo sobre la importancia de manejar con responsabilidad sus contraseñas.
La empresa desoftware Intel Security, reconocida por haber creado el antivirus McAfee, comenzó con la iniciativa de declarar el Día Mundial de la Contraseña el primer jueves de mayo, inspirada por la iniciativa de Burnett.

Para que una contraseña sea poderosa e invulnerable debe cumplir dos requisitos básicos: ser robusta y alejada de la obviedad. Utiliza caracteres diversos y palabras que gocen de poca popularidad. Tampoco dejes referencias a datos personales como fechas de nacimiento, edad o nombres de familiares.
